Language Learning Flashcards

Master vocabulary in any language with FSRS spaced repetition and AI-generated flashcard courses.

Why Spaced Repetition is Essential for Language Learning

Vocabulary acquisition requires multiple exposures at increasing intervals — exactly what spaced repetition provides. FSRS schedules each word at the moment before forgetting, meaning every review is maximally efficient. Studies show learners using spaced repetition retain 2–3× more vocabulary compared to mass practice.

Hear the word via text-to-speech. Practice recognising words by sound before seeing them — ideal for listening comprehension.

Matching

Match pairs of cards. Reinforces associations between words, definitions, or translations through visual pattern recognition.

Fill in Blank

Cloze deletion — see a sentence with a word removed. Fill in the target word. Ideal for learning words in context.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many words can I learn per day with MemoThings?
Most learners start with 10–20 new words per day. At 20 new words/day with 90% FSRS retention, you'd reach 6,000 words in roughly 300 days — equivalent to upper-intermediate level in most languages.
Does MemoThings support right-to-left languages like Arabic or Hebrew?
Card text displays in any Unicode-supported language. Community decks for Arabic are available. RTL rendering depends on your device's language settings.
Can I add audio to my flashcards?
The Listening study mode uses your device's text-to-speech engine to read cards aloud. For custom audio clips on individual cards, this is on our feature roadmap.
Is there a way to learn words in context rather than in isolation?
Yes — use Fill in Blank mode for cloze-style practice, or add full example sentences as the card back in your custom decks.
